About

My art practice focuses on the human form, most recently on portraiture, using a variety of media. I always work from life, being fortunate to have regular sessions with professional models at my local art group in Little Crosby, Liverpool. Alongside this, I am interested in the subject of impermanence, particularly how so much contemporary art is created using materials that are not intended to last. Since moving to Merseyside in late 2018, I have been within walking distance of Antony Gormley’s Another Place, giving me an ideal opportunity to observe the effects of entropy on a large-scale art installation.

I have an MA in Fine Art Contemporary Practice from Falmouth University. My BA (Hons) in Visual Art was gained in Ireland with DIT’s innovative programme on Sherkin Island in West Cork.

In addition to my art practice in Ireland, I was also co-Director of the West Cork Literary Festival, which I helped expand to become one of Ireland’s leading cultural events. Prior to this, I lived in Spain where I worked as a freelance journalist, photographer and documentary filmmaker. I am a fluent Spanish speaker. I also worked for many years in London on the newsdesk at IRN/LBC.

My artwork forms part of private collections in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Norway, and the USA.

I write about art for the British Art Journal.
